For School Workers

Professional…

As schools workers you are role models, mentors. In many ways your every move or action is open to scrutiny. Therefore, lead by example,
You’ve chosen a career that’s not for the faint hearted.

Many of you will be responsible for the delivery of lessons and after school clubs, these should be professional and of a high standard.
Your attitude and behaviour needs to be appropriate.

Many schools workers will be employed by churches or Christian trusts, ultimately you are employed by these people and therefore accountable to them. BUT you are also accountable to the school and the teachers.
Accountability is a key word here!

We can only give what we have...

The Christian walk requires that we are fed and watered, immersed in the word of God. This is how we grow.

It is therefore vital that we read The Bible, that we study it.
We must spend time praying.
We must be in fellowship with fellow believers, i.e. belong to a church. This is not the time or the place for lone rangers.
We need to be open and honest, if we are finding a situation difficult share it.
Equally if we have ‘invented’ a good resource…share it!

Using the SMSC website

The SMSC website is obviously geared towards teachers and those associated with education.

Often these organisations will offer resources for your lessons and after school clubs, or maybe you are looking for somewhere to take your group, then the website can help.

Where the resources are personnel, there is nothing to stop your church booking that person for a weekend at the church and extending that booking to cover either the Friday or the Monday for school use (obviously in consultation with the school).
